Verbal,

Hire John Varner or Matt Cartwright. You will catch fish and learn more than you would in a month or three by yourself. You will not be disappointed.

Personally Verbal, I think this time of the year to learn Hubbard will be pretty tough. This is the first year I've tried to fish past Thanksgiving, and those trips have been a bit dissapointing in comparison to spring through fall.

I've just about gotten myself to where I can catch fish every trip now. Not including winter fishing. I bet you if I went tomorrow, I would bring home " what the little boy shot at" NOTHING!
Best advice Guide Service!! Good luck

since i dont know what im doing with a baitcaster, or with slabs, i was just dropping it to the bottom, pulling up a crank or 2, and just trolling around.

if any of you kind people could provide some pointers, better spots, or suggestion, my wife might start believing me when i tell her im going fishing smile I havent come home with fish in a very long time.

A great hybrid spot on Hubbard is actually on the northern end of the powewplant peninsula. You want to look on the flats area just to the southeast of the shallow water danger buoys. There are some trees in this area, so you will lose a few baits, but well worth the risk. This spot is more productive when the wind is out of the south, water and bait get pushed along the rip rap and then it whips to the east when it reaches the sloping point at the far northern end.

The best place to get your baits for Hubbard and Tawakoni is Moes Tackle Shop. He has a great product with prices WAY cheaper than going to the bass pro or academy. Grab some Chartreuse Sassy Shad with 1 oz heads, fiesta slabs (everything hits those things) and some salt/pepper dead assasins.
I speant a ton before I went fishing with Matt at Matts Guide Service and he turned me on to Moes Tackle shop, man I could have saved a few hundred bucks no kidding.
