Sounds like you had a nice day on the water...Wish I could have been there, but instead I got to go to work...

I just started fishing Lewisville with my dad as he bought a pontoon boat and slip out at Cottonwood a couple of months ago. We've been trolling for Whites an Hybrids but would like to start catfishing. Could you tell me what type of bait you're catching the catsfish on and what part of the lake or depth is good in the fall and winter months?

Thanks-
Jason

i usually net shad around the 720 bridge area.
I prefer the smaller shad 1-2" and often if its a 1" shad i'll worm him on the hook whole if its bigger i'll cut em in half.

I use a rig kinda like the bottom bouncer rig shown here http://www.whiskerkitty.com/frameset.html

I make the rig out of a crappie rig, cut the crappie rig in half and put a 3/4 to 1 oz wieght on the bottom and a hook on the lil wire thing. I throw it out and drag it on the bottom.

The last couple times out i did best in 28'-25' of water drifting across or towrd a main lake point. The point near cotton wood marina is where i caught these last sunday drifting between the trees and the point just dont get to close to the trees or you will hang up a bunch.

Thank you very much for the catfishing information. By the way, we did some Sand Bass fishing today from 2-5 PM and caught about nine just trolling the Cottonwood cove. They were all decent size with the largest weighing 2 pounds.
