Define "bay boat" if it's a deep v craft, then you can go wherever you want in Venice. Same boat limits you to 20% of the water at padre.

Pat its a 20ft alumacraft CC not a Deep V .High sides and wide.No bilge self bailing full of foam from front to rear.Biggest i have taken it on is 4-5ft rollers.Handled that well didnt feel unstable or unsafe to me.

That boat won't have any trouble getting around the marsh at Venice, the river can be really rough, but you shouldn't have to get out in it much. Without a guide, you'll want good satellite maps and a GPS, it's so much territory and it's really easy to get turned around in.

Venice is a great option and would be a great choice, but you may want to consider the Grand Isle/Fourchon area also. Offshore is awesome (Chris Moran - Cajun Made Charters) as well as inshore/surf fishing. You can run a bayboat in the bays and surf if calm enough. Been going there since I was born and I always find ways to make it back as much as possible.
A little more to do in Grand Isle w/ your idle time. (Nice beaches and Bar scene is really good!!!!)

Guys, if you just want inshore species...no need to go all the way to Venice. Go to Lake Charles and fish the upper end of Big Lake in Prien lake. Use the ramp under the 210 loop bridge on the east side. They are killing them in there right now under the birds.

Now, Donald...please pick John Bolton for your running mate.

Thanks Pat and Garfish
I was wondering about Grand Isle .I was doing some Google Earth trolling to see what all was down there .Only place i ever fished alot was Port Aransas and South Padre.
If you get the time look on Google earth and check it out.

Jeff

Don't need to, fished grand isle a lot with a couple of cousins that live there. Redfishing is probably as good as Venice.

Cuts between lakes, intersections of canals and bayous, just about as easy as if it looks good it is.

If youre serious about fishing and only fishing, go to venice.

If you want to have good fishing but also do the "tourist thing" then go to Port A or South Padre
