Get a Mustang. They're a little pricy, about $135, but worth it. They inflate upon contact with water (and no, they won't inflate in the rain). They are very comfortable to wear. It's what I use.

And look for the neck part to have some cloth or padding, the lesser priced ones rub your neck...

They are great for summer fishing! My only complaint is that you still have to have 'standard' pdf's in the boat still. Kinda cramps the storage issue a bit, but when it's 90 plus degrees, being able to cool off with a boat ride and still be safe, it's worth it.

I didn't pop for the Mustang's but I hear they are worth the price.

Mustangs are good. I have Stearns. The do not inflate when getting drenched in the rain or waves when windy. They will inflate however if T-Dub puts it on though. rolfmao

Had a auto-inflate for several years now, best investment you can make. I'm not sure but I think that as long as you are wearing the autos they count as pfd's, Again they must be on your person to count.

Where do you get the 'mustang'? I was looking at Bass Pro and the good auto inflate ones are $300 and the sales guy said the cheaper ones ($100+) are not good for a variety of reasons.
I'd gladly pay $135 for a good one that Guy and others recommend.

have 2 Stearns auto inflaters that are costing me a fortune replacing the dissolvable tablets and air cartridges! Although they don't autoinflate during the rain, if I keep them anywhere in the wet boat overnight they inflate during the night. Can't seem to remember to carry them into the house after fishing in the rain. I give up and will go back to the bulky life vests! frown

Just go manual. You cannot use the auto inflate in humid areas cause they will eventually inflate when not in the water.

Game wardens do not care if they are auto's or not...you must have conventional vests if you are not wearing the inflatable when they check you.
