I haven't put my boat on the water in a month and I was wondering if it is still possible to get into the river? I know the lake is low but can it still be done without getting my boat stuck?

Had no problems getting in a month ago.

Hope fishing has been great for everybody, and happy belated new years!

There are only 6 or 7 inches of water in front of the mouth of the river right now. It's a very difficult trudge in a jonboat (done it). I've been in there hundreds of times, literally, dating back to about 1985. I can get in with 12 inches of water on the flat, but I have to be alone and running at least 60 mph. If anyone thinks they can run a bassboat in there now (offically 3.3' low), I want to watch them try. And the bottom at the mouth isn't soft like so many say it is. I got out of my boat and waded around on it in September and it was hard. Very hard. Actually, another boat followed me in that day, and when he left he didn't get a running start on the first try. As soon as he left the river, he felt drag, backed out of the throttle and stopped. I helped him drag his boat back into the river channel, and he watched me get a run at it and go.

artie you are very correct. that soft silt is gone, and was replaced by sand bars.

Artie, When you get in the area and I am available we'll make that run in at 431.9 and not touch a stick! wink

At 431.7 maybe a tick

At 431.5 I say "now hang on"

At 431.25 I am a little nervous.
