Anglers that fish your tournaments generally aren't fishing to make a living. It's an ego thing. Everyone wants to go home and say, "I gotta check." Paying one in every six-and-a-half places is cutting your number of recipients way down. I think you're way too heavy on first place. I've been doing this for going on fourty years, and I hear this all the time in the parking lots. It won't stop me from fishing, but you've got to keep the fishermen coming back...I'm just saying.

I would much rather fish for some money than get a check and still lose money on the day.

For those of you that want paybacks spread out to the first 20 or so, maybe they can start giving honorable mention ribbons out.

Honostly I like it

I would try to figure out a way to pay more spots with a lighter 1st place. Something like this gives 1 in 5 anglers a chance to not only cover expenses but maybe put a little cash in their pocket too.

My wife Diane and I host the J C Outdoors Bass Trails. Would love to have you guys join us this season. Spring schedules are listed in the tournament section of the TFF. Will be on our web site as soon as I confirm a few more ramps.

Much prefer the larger payout for first place over the number of spots paid.
