I wish there was a "good word" on this lake. Cooper used to be one helluva lake to fish! Man, there were a couple of pond dams to fish where you could just about bank on catching 20-25 lbs of fish on C-rigs.

Ah, those were the days.

cooper was an amazing lmb fishery in the 90's. during the spawn you would literally see many boats around you landing 10 pounders. i sure do miss seeing all those hawgs spawning on tree limbs around the river channel.

WTH happened to it? I am thinking of fishing out there for an extended stay. I too would love some words of wisdom.

yea tons of timber ...saw a vid a while back of a guy running it was insane amount of timber in the lake

They started pumping water out of it for city of Dallas water supply if I remember correctly. The lake was 20+ feet low for a year or two. Before the pumping started and lake level fell we would kill them out there. That's back when I lived in Sulphur Springs though in the late 90s. Haven't been in years but I guarantee there are still some hawgs in there. Just doesn't get much publicity with fork being right up the road.
