Me and my friend just came back from shark fishing at San Luis Pass. We were using stingray and mullet for bait. Usually we fish on the right side of the bridge on Galveston side and Kayak our baits out and do ok just acouple. This time not even a nibble in 48 hour period and bait fish like crockers and whites very very slow bitting like a bite ever hour. We took the baits out over a hundred yards easily and the depth never reached more then 4 feet deep. Is this normal cause last year when we went it seemed to be alot deeper past 15 feet deep a hundred yards out. Also never tried shark fishing on ocean side of San Luis Pass. Do yall fish close to the curve of the pass or around how many yards from it. Also whgich sand bar 1-2 2-3 or passed 3rd? Alot of ? but thatnks for yalls help.

usually fishing in the pass results in alot of small sharks this time of year and you don't catch many. by the end of febuary into march you can catch sandbars fishing past the third get at least 200 yards up the beach from the pass its the only time i have ever caught a shark over 7 foot so make sure you've got some good gear! april bull sharks and black tips start to show up don't have to take your bait out as far either. may through the summer you can fish past the third but not really necessary you can catch some decent sized sharks on cast baits and not odd to catch em till your arms are ready to fall off! hope this helps
