Has anyone seen/fished any birds near the 380 bridge on Lavon? I've got a buddy who lives in Farmersville that would get a kick out of catching some blues, but I've only been out around Lucas.

There is a pretty good sized roost just south of 380. The water is shallow launching north of 380. I would launch down south a run up there. Jerry www.JerryHancockOutdoors.com www.AdvantagemarineuSA.com

Alright, finally a"Outdoorsman". Maybe I will catch more fish now! Actually I think if all fisherpeople read this forum they would have to tighten up the limits. Thanks TFF! ------------------ Gotta quit wishing, Gotta go fishing..J.Buffet..TWright

I launched at Twin Groves a couple of weekends ago and almost couldnt get my boat back out of the water it was so shallow. I can see that a lot of areas I fished before are now grassy land. I drive over the 380 bridge every day on my way home and the water turkeys have been up there pretty thick south of the bridge. The wind has been blowing up there as well though.

I have been fishing in the North End near 380 every chance I get (usually in 2 -5' of water in the trees). But with the water so low, I could not get through the cut last weekend. I launch out at shady shores and run North to the small channel. Last time I was there (and got through the cut) I got 2 in the 2' range and 2 in the 18" range. The 4th of oct I played Coast Guard an pulled a bass boat off a mud bar in about 14-18" of water. 2 weeks later that mud bar is 12" above the water. Even in my john boat, I would have had a heck of a time getting back up there when I am by myself. (I have a 03 G3 1860CC with a 90 yamaha on the back) If I have nother person up front I might make it. Gonna see bout that this next weekend.

Made it to the birds near 380 Saturday morning after stumbling on to the "cut" through the trees. Caught a big 0. Don't know if it's this front, it's too shallow or I wasn't holdin' my mouth right. Not A great day, but I was out fishing! going to try some driftin' today. Gotta love a four day weekend

The big "Trick" to fishing the birds is the wind. If it's windy you can forget it. We caught around 20 Saturday morning before it got up too much. Jerry www.JerryHancockOutdoors.com www.AdvantageMarineuSA.com

I went bass fishing just south of 380 this weekend in the area you guys are talking about. One Levee that has been exposed there is one area that is almost a little island. Huge Blue Cat washed up on shore, probably upwards of 50 pounds. Saw alot on my graph just south of the roadbed by the point south of launch. I didn't catch any bass up in there, but maybe I'll try and catch some cats. Any advice on baits? Also noticed another monster cat on the shore hard to tell weight cause he was just bones now

I also saw a huge dead blue cat earlier this year in the same place. The one I saw had its mouth tore up from what appeared to be from a trotline. There are lots of old trotlines up there in the trees but I know of only one person who is running his on a regular basis. That levee is really a pain because it forces you to go through a mile of stumps before getting to the birds. I've gotten stuck four or five times on it and had to push off. Hope this rain brings the lake up some. The bigguns are definitely up there though. I know of one guy that fishes up and down the levee on the south side with shad and has gotten several monsters out of there especially when the wind is from the south. The point to the south of Elm Creek boat ramp seems to be a good spot to drift but expect to hang up a lot. The water is only 10 feet deep now and it may be better drifting farther south in deeper water.
If it takes less than one truck to haul away all of your guns then you don't have enough guns!

I haven't been on the lake in about a month, is there any birds roosting around Brockdale? Hope to be out there this Thursday and Friday if this wind lets up. Sharon

Sharon - yes they're still out there. Same places that they have been. I'll be out there Friday in a small green & gray v-hull. Say hi if you see me.
