I am really shocked that no one else has posted any pictures or reports from PK yesterday. The water was crowded with fishermen and fisherwomen. The fishing was slow in the early afternoon so I walked around to get away from the crowds. I went up stream and saw some fish rising. I had a size 12 elk hair caddis fly that I tied myself and caught the bass. I caught two more of his compatriots from the same hole. They were not big, but I was using a 3 wt. rod which was the perfect size, so I was happy. I started to head back to the bridge at Highway 16 about 4:30 or so. I stopped by the run where the hatchery drains into the river. There was a guy fishing there with his son, but he invited me to try my luck. I fished the run for close to 45 minutes. I finally hooked up with the trout on a small midge fly with a bead head on a dropper behind the caddis fly. I decided to end the day there. Some how the fishing had a certain logic to it. I don't have the words to explain it. I felt like I knew what to do, and some how managed to do it. That seems like a smug thing to say, but I mean it in the most humble way possible. As I was driving home to Fort Worth and reflecting on the day, I felt lucky. Lucky that some how and some way, I felt connected to something bigger. The day was beautiful. Back at the truck, I heard a guy say how lucky we were to have such a place close by. I really feel that way too. Sorry the pictures are so large. I will work on making them smaller.

Looks like an awesome spot, I'd love to fish it one of these days.
How close to the actual tailrace ( Beneath the dam ) can you get these days? I know the direct tailrace is closed off, which sucks.

Congrats! I fished it for about four hours on Monday, and this is all I had to show for it Beauty eh.
It's more than the catfish would do.

Where is HWY 16? I can't find that on the map, is it like all the other streets in Texas and has two names?

If you go down the fish hatchery road torward the dam, you can park at a BRA picnic/access site and get to about 200yds from the actuall dam. When I was there Monday I saw a couple of fellers on the dam itself, dont think they were legal and it didn't look safe.
It's more than the catfish would do.

As long as you stay DOWN RIVER of the cable across the River, you are legal. The Cable Nazi, from the BRA, will ticket you if he finds you closer to the Dam than the cable and signage allow. There is a marked trail, for about 25 yards, down toward the River. You need to veer right and pick your way down to the River. The trail is marked by two blue-green steel posts. It's about 10 yards down river from the bathrooms on the BRA picnic area. Cross the stream, walk the water around the island, cross the flow again and then wade out toward the Dam. Cast out towards the concrete/rock out cropping and the fish (stripers/sandies) are in the pool out there.
