Well it wasn't a great night. After I got their my kayak dropped off the bank, I had to go in after it and did not have anoth pair of shorts. So wet shorts all night with no back up. Well later on that night around 11pm I was slipping into my kayak to check my jugs and I flipped over, so now the shorts are wet again as well as the 2 shirts I was wearing cause it was cold. So I was out of luck. On the bright side I caught one small flathead which was released and also one blue which I am about to put in the frying pan. I am however hooked on Jug fish. Anyone have any advice on hook size or methods cause I lost my bait many times and was left with nothing but slime on my line! Cheers.

Try circle hooks. They set themselves, usually in the corner of the catfish's mouth. That decreases the mortality on the little bitty ones or, if you're prone to release them, the monster catfish. Regarding your kayak misfortunes, be careful about letting yourself get trapped in the water with an overturned kayak, a hook in the arm, and a jug weight pulling against you while your're wrapped up in the jug line. Ouchhh!!

Thanks for the tip as well as that vision of a painful death at the hands of a jug line. Trust me I have thought about that when I am out there at 3am alone and there is a chop on the water.
