Had a Falcon Cara / Citica slip out of my hand sandbass fishing at Lewisville. My buddy dropped a marker buoy as soon as he saw it go. Grabbed another rod w/ 1 oz slab on it and snagged the line after about 10 minutes of cast/retrieve around the marker buoy. The water was about 10' but without the buoy for reference I don't think I would ever have found it. I kicked another one off the deck at Texoma around the islands in even less water but never found it....and yes, I'm a klutz.

FYI old harddrive magnets are super strong. Hang on a string
and pull up anything metal within a mile.. relatively speaking.

Not much real metal on a falcon or calcutta, The reel is aluminum

You're not a klutz - there is a lot of stuff going on in the first three feet of a bass boat. It just happens...

Any update on your reel?

i had one of my bass reels drug in lewisville crappie fishing from a buddys slip at pier 121 in winter of 2007...was hanging over the side of a baited hole in the deck and i was watching it and before i could react the pole stood straight up in the air and then just plunged tip first into the water ...no hope at all of saving it ...caught the same reel sand bass fishing from the bank at steward park by the boat ramp in the summer of 2009 ...almost a mile away

Those alligators down there are waiting for you do dive for it.I would drag the bottom with a deep diving treble hooked lure.

I lost a custom rod and green Curado while canoe fishing in a gin-clear lake a few years ago. I was landing a smallmouth with another rod and must have knocked the rod over while landing the fish. I didn't even notice it was gone until I had paddled 20 yards away.

The water was probably 10-15ft deep and crystal clear, but I wasn't sure where it dropped, so I said goodbye to my favourite rod and nice reel that day. I still get upset thinking about it....lol..stupid canoe!
