every time i start my motor (200hp mercury efi) my hds 8 unit reboots. i have taken it back to the marina where i got it installed and he says he hooked it up right and suggested i get a new battery. i got a new one but this didn't fix the problem either and hen doesn't know what else to do. has anybody else had this problem, and if so, what can be done to fix it? thanks and Happy New Year

check the conections on the battery,and all grounds batt. and unit.

This sounds like a voltage drop when cranking your engine. I suggest that you get a larger battery and/or connect the unit directly to the battery.

Wire it directly to the battery with heavy guage wire.

That same thing happened to me this fall. I put in a new battery and all is well. I got an 875 CCA cranking battery.

I experience this but it was after I was on the water. It turned out it was the voltage reg on the motor needing replacing. I also had it wired directly to the battery when this first occured but that didn't solve the problem.
After the voltage reg was changed it was ok but I got a separate battery and ran it directly to it. I didn't want any problems considering that the HDS 8 was my fishing lifeblood.

Could be a drained or weak battery. Or, even bad battery.
