Winter fishing has been horrible. Someone get me out of this rut. I went to a neighborhood pond to pick on bass I got so desperate. The Galveston Bay complex has not been very compliant with me. Flounder run is gone. Can't find a trout anywhere and the reds all shrank up in the cold. Someone put me on decent fish. I am off the rest of this week if anyone wants to make a run down to the coast with me or if you're just handing out spots, that's good too. smile

The only thing dumber than a fish is a fisherman.

Pete, can I get a bone thrown this way?

Tk2005- I completely know what you mean. I've been skunked twice already this month and have only one more day left before I have to go back to work. Me and fishing have a love hate relationship, and it ruined my Christmas

didnt really have much to offer in the way of spots.
ive been fishin the seabrook and clearlake areas the last week. clear lake park produced a couple bull reds. the lagoon off todville had some rat reds and smallish trouts. been skunked 3-4 times however. this is all bank fishin - got no boat.

u gonna try one more time before u go to work? if so, PM me if u want a partner.

pete

This has been the most productive month for me. But i fish the surf. If you want some action hit up the surf. Bull reds and drum are waiting for you to feed them. I would go to surfside beach with some crab, shad, mullet and shrimp for whiting. Then once you catch some whiting, cut them up and wade in as far as you can to cast your reel. Then just wait for that sucker to start screaming.

Me and my cousin did good last week down at PINS. (Videos are in the thread at the bottom)

A couple weeks before this we were out at surfside and managed to land 5 bull reds on cut whiting.

That is consistent with what I saw 3 weeks ago at rollover pass.
I fished the surf, about 200 yards west of the cut, and was catching BIG black drum and bull reds.
They were not choosy about bait. Since I had no luck finding any mullet in the surf, I went to Nancy's bait house, and bought some frozen finger mullet.
I didn't think I would have much luck, but the reds were tearin em up.
One thing I have learned, applies to hunting and fishing, is always expect the unexpected.

Hey WHAT. What bait do you use to catch pompano? At surfside I only catch pompano once.

I caught them on small pieces of peeled shrimp.
