Could just be a bad Tar Paper Job. Kind of like a bubble effect. Need to take a look in attic at that spot and see what the decking looks like. Roofer may have been just to lazy to cut Paper and over lay it correctly. If decking is ok--Not a hugh problem other then it looks lik He'LL

+1 or it needs to be done.
I would definitely get a look from underneath....whoever you hire to inspect the home should be on top of that as well.

Roof & siding (looks like soffits were done in vinyl) to hide - what ? ? ? ? Get as much history on the structure as you can.

paper shouldn't make the shingles come up like that. it looks like there is some water coming down from the junction of the ridge and the higher roof.
probably has osb under the shingles and if so RUN! will require the osb to be removed and replaced then reshingled.
as said look from under and if its osb then say no thanks.

If you're like me and don't know what osb is:

Ask the builder

it is a horrible felt paper job
combined with probably the cheapest & lightest 3-tab shingles on the market
if it was decking, it would be straight lines, horizontal or vertical

butch it is more than likely water getting under the paper and causing it and the osb to go nuts, seen it before on repairs.
either way with a roof like that stay away its gonna cost someone.

Well I took a good look today and everything looks fine underneath. The whole roof is OSB but looks good. This roof extends over a room that was added on and it looks like the bulge runs perfectly with the old roof line. Everything looked solid and dry underneath. I talked to the people who put the roof on and it still has another 2 years on the warranty.

Yea, I talked to the roofing guy and he said it looks like the newer roof addition has shifted down alittle. Talked like it could be fixed for around 500 bucks. Just needs to cut and refit the shingles. He said something like the papers 4 feet so if its longer than that than its not a paper issue.
