LOL, Mark, I threw that remark in as a reference to the "which is best" threads where each has it supporters and detractors. Only the user can determine "which is best". The best thing is, you do have a choice.

Guys school me on this DSI stuff. I have an HDS-5, and that image doesn't look to different than my regular 2d image. So what is the fuss all about?

parttime, here is a split screen 2D and DI view of a weed bed of a weed similar to hydrilla. Notice any difference?

Here's a pic of the LSS-1 with 2d sonar. You can see the difference here.

can I use the same transducer as the 552c? I would not think so. Also I have a 522c with a ram mount. can i ram mount the Elite 5? Ram makes the RAM-107U which will work fine for the Elite 5 ! Brian RAM-107U

Ok, in those images I see the difference, just the very first one didn't look to impressive. The first one isn't LSs-1 is it?

parttime, if you are referring to the one I posted of the weed bed, that was done with the Humminbird Down Imaging and 2D sonar. If you are not "impressed" with seeing individual weeds in a thick weed bed, you are not easily "impressed". I imagine the Lowrance Down Scan can do just as well. Here is some hard stuff like 25' tall submerged trees in Down Imaging and 2D.

Can't wait to save enough for one of these. I have an LCX 17 on the console and a X70 on the front. You guys are spoiled. Nice images.
