Nope you cannot use the same transducer as the 522. They use diff connectors. The Elite units do not have a ram mount option that I am aware of.

The DSI isnt out yet.

Jason, the Lowrance website says it will be available "early 2011", any idea when that will be? I have seen some reports of price being around $700. Do you have any info?

I'm showing a tentative eta of Jan.10th for delivery on the DSI units. Our pricing will be between just under $500 to $600 for the Elite models.

I think you can use a RAM mount with any unit using a universal plate. I made mine with 1/4" aluminum.

OK jason I was reading the specs on elite dsi and the comparable h/b unit the 596di the bird has 4000watts ptp for power and elite has 2400ptp can you confirm this ?Also what is the degree of coverage with the elite? the h/b says it has 20degrees of coverage, that would be like a 200 mhz ducer

thnx

basscatmark, you should check the Humminbird specs a little closer. The DI frequencies have 86 degree coverage in the 455 khz, and 55 degree coverage in the 800 khz. Yes, it does state 20 degrees in the 200 khz 2D frequency. All those coverages are at -10 db. The actual coverage is more.
The Elite 5 DSI does not have 2D.

thnx you r right wayne it is the 2d is 20 degrees, the Di coverage you state is that for the elite or the bird? I think the bird is single freq on the DI. Also wayne how about the power issue is that correct?

The coverage figures are from the 2011 Humminbird catalog.

No, the Bird has 455 khz and 800 khz for Down Imaging, the same as the Elite DSI.

The specs for power of 4000W PTP and 500W RMS are the same for both units.

Not withstanding actual performance results, the 597 has a 33% higher screen resolution and the additional 2D sonar.

Here is the catalog link, check for yourself---
