I finally got brave enough to try this soured milo. For 2 weeks it has been getting ready and we have had some pretty warm days for this time of the year here in Arkansas. But I did not know if it was getting ready or not so I made sure I kept plenty of beer in it.So by Friday night it is smelling ripe. And I get this idea that I would go put it out around these Cypres trees that I am going to run yo-yos on Saturday night. So I start speading this stuff out Sat. morn and again around noon. Now by the time I start setting my yo-yos out that night 2 dozen in all.I wore myself out taking fish off of yo-yos from7 to midnight I do not know how many catfish I caught and released.I guess it was either a fluke or the stuff really worked now this weekend we fish with rod and reels.Once again thanks for everyones tips on making this stuff cause I am a firm believer now. Thanks again Arkansasrob

Arkansas Rob

Not a fluke, it really works.

No need to add a bunch of beer this time of year it is warm enough. Even if you do, 1/2 can is the most you should ever add (drink the other 1/2)

Man I wish Yo-Yo's were still legal here, I had a BLAST with them things back in the day!

An automatic reel that you hang from a tree branch. Like a jug line without the jug.

As soon as a fish tugs on it it reels in? What's the advantage to it over a jugline?

its like a spring loaded fishing line, when the fish pulls it trips it and the spring keeps pressure on the line, in a way its like a jugline, but its really meant for fishing shallower water, i'd liken it to more of a limb line than a jugline.

I might add that the yo yo's are illegal in Texas. And believe me, that's hard for someone from Louisiana to get used to. Curiously enough, they've been selling them at Academy though I haven't checked in a while.

"I might add that the yo yo's are illegal in Texas."

Could you point me to page on the TPWD website where this is verified? I was considering using yo yo's hooked up to a few trees near a shore. Thanks.

Read here, it does not fakll into these device categories. If you still have ??? call TP&W they will verify this also.

They outlawed them many years ago, it's a shame too, we used to do well with them tied to our boat dock.

I have a kind of funny story to tell about yo-yo's, and it does prove that they are illegal. My father-in-law and I were fishing Wiskey Flats for sandbass a few weeks ago and we were approached by the game warden. We had about 5-6 sandies in a 5 gallon bucket. The game warden took a look at them and asked if we had been measuring them. I told him that we had, and my father-in-law said, "Yeah, I've got my yo-yo right here in my pocket." Well, for some reason my father-in-law calls his measuring tape his "yo-yo." The game warden thought that he was referring to one of these illegal devices and almost had a heart attack. He said, "Your WHAT???" I had to explain to him that my father-in-law meant his measuring tape. Even after this, the game warden wouldn't believe us until my father-in-law emptied all of the contents of his pockets. He then proceeded to tell my father-in-law what a real yo-yo was and that they were illegal in Texas.

They are illegal because sometimes a fish will flop out of the water and be hanging from the yo-yo in mid-air and die.

What about limb-lines? Are they legal? I don't see them listed on the TPW site unless you would consider them to be throw-lines (A fishing line with 5 or less hooks with 1 end attached to a permanent fixture)?

Thanks,
Greg

Yes limb lines are legal. They do not have an automatic trigger.

A limb line is exactly what you describing.
