Yesterday Omar Cotter and I went out on Lake Grapevine and chased some sand bass in honor of Howell. We talked a lot about our friend, how he taught us things and influenced us, mostly how he made us laugh. We ended up cold and only boated about ten keepers, including a pair of what Howell called green carp (large mouth bass).

At the end of the trip we drank some Bud Lite and dumped one in the lake for Howell, it was a good day and it felt like Howell was laughing at us freezing our butts of, probably while fishing with John Wayne and Elvis.

We also got a good laugh over Howell's signature opening line, "You know what", we figure God has probably told him a few times, "Yes Howell I do know what, after all I am God", to which Howell would most likely answer, "yea I know God but you know what..."

Howell shall forever be my friend. Hard to believe he is gone but in many ways he is still around and still reminding me of all the things I learned from him. I could hear him yesterday saying, "the temperature dropped 40 degrees in 24 hours Jack, subtle approach, think like crappie, they will be moving slow."

It was the best ten fish day I ever had freezing my butt off for a few well earned fish. Thanks Omar and Thanks Howell.

Very nice story Sounds like Howell was a great guy. Prayers go out to his family and friends throughout this holliday season.
