Has anyone used Stren 100% Fluorocarbon line? Saw some in Dicks the other night for a good price. Normally use XPS but thought this might be worth trying especially since Stren and Trilene are owned by the same company. I have heard great things about Trilene 100% Fluorocarbon.

I bought a 17lb 2000 yd role on clearance. It's ok, its strong but is not close to Invisix quality. Not bad for $50 though. I would never pay full price, put it that way.

Trilene on the other hand is great, 2nd best is my opinion next to Invisix.

I just bought some Fluorocast from Academy today, it was half the price of the Trilene.

Stren-200 yd 9.99
Trilene-200 YD 18.99

We shall see, this is my first fluoro experience?

I've been using the Stren 17# for about 2 months now. It is no where close to invizx but I haven't had any problems with it. I like it. I like the price even better.

I'd stay away from the Stren. I always use Berkley Trilene 100% fluoro. Started using the Stren a long time ago but moved over quickly when the Trilene came out. Stren is nowhere near as good even though the same company makes it. Just my 2 cents...

I bought some 17, the price was right and Seagar (sp) only makes 15 and 20. Its not all that clear but for the price I can't complain. Its not as soft as some, but softens up some with line conditioner.

I've only used it once, but for a guy that doesnt tournament fish anymore its good for me.

Thanks, Billy

I just don't understand why anyone would want to cheap out on the line you use. That is the final link between you and the fish. Spend $30,000 on a boat and skimp on the line?????????????????? Makes no sense to me.

Fully understand the comment about price. Like I said I like the XPS line but when you are spooling a reel for a 12 yr old it doesn't last too long. Don't get me wrong he is my shadow and I love taking him but why waste good money in a non tournament condition on a 12 yr old. He caught three on the last trip on crank baits with no help. One day he is going to be a true stick!
