what would be the best depth finder for a boat chaseing stripers and trolling for whites maybe price range under 2 or 250 bucks ??

There's a lot of Finders that works great from Basspro at that price. New. The Hummingbird 161 with Gps cost under $200 (4" screen, 20 degree sonar). The Eagle Fish Elite 480 W/ Gps was on sale also for $230 (5" screen, 30 degree sonar). If you don't need the gps, the Hummingbird 570 or the Lowrance Mark 5x DSI with Down imaging is a great buy at $300 both with a 5" screen (Hummingbird makes good DI, while Lowrance makes good SI). If you go with "Used", TFF'ers will usually have a great deal on the Trading post. Good luck.
