I went to my local feed store to get some range cubes and they said that the only carried th 20% breeder cubes, but they are the exact same thing, but the breeder cubes had extra nutrients or something... Will these 20% breeder cubes work? Are they the same thing?
Thanks Jason

Dot put too much thinking in to it. Cat fish will eat anything.

I used to run a feed store I have been to alot of purina mills seminars. I have heard of people using dog food or range cubes or what not. They will eat it and they will love it but it will not help them grow it has to be over 32% protein.

Randy, when I am chumming for them, the only growing I care for them to be doing, is for the filet to fluff up a bit when I toss it in 350 degree peanut oil.

I went to a feed store last week and they told me to use sinking fish food. Is it more expensive? are they trying to sell me something more expensive to make an extra buck? What about small chunk dog food (Iams)? I am using range cubes and it seems like the carp come from all around to eat it but I haven't seen too much affect on cats. I have also heard it is better to use cracked corn or hen scratch soured, as the cracked corn softens up better than whole. I am willing to use just about anything if it will work.

Guys, if you are having trouble with carp, then change your bait. Not your chum. Carp being in an area doesn't slow the kitties a bit.
I've been using soured hen scratch in combination with range cubes for years, and so rarely catch a carp it is not worth talking about. Yet, if the carp aren't rolling actively around the boat, the kitties usually aren't biting either. So carp can definetly be your friends.
