Hello all,
Was wondering if anyone had any tips on catfishing on RR. Has been pretty slow. I have been trying back in the creeks using sour corn and punch bait, but not much success. Looking for eating catfish, not trophy. Do they go deeper in the winter, or are they still in the shallow creeks?
Thanks for the help

Hello Fargo: I was waiting before replying to your post hoping some one with more experience would and we both could learn something. Anyway, it's been a few weeks since I've been and weather conditions have changed a lot, with cold weather fishing for cats should only gets better. I went to the back of State Park cove and that day they seemed to prefer shrimp, my jug lines were set for 12'letting them drift across the bay. The most action I saw was at 10AM. My boat is a deep-v so I don't get to go up the creeks, where I'm sure the fish are hiding from me. Good Luck Jerry

Guide Paul Obier and his fishing buddy Gary caught some nice Channels yesterday fishing some baited holes in 40' water on DK's.
They also caught big Sandies until they got tired on slabs in deep water.

The last couple of weeks we have caught some really nice catfish where the birds are roosting at night. We are using shad rigged under a bobber, fishing them 1 to 2 feet deep in 18 feet of water. This morning my 9 year old son and I caught 8 real nice ones by 8:00 then they shut off. Should of had several more but just had a bad day with hook sets. He caught his biggest today, a nice 6 1/2 pound channel. When we first started we actually had a couple come up and try to eat our bobbers.
