I'd like to add a shallow water anchor this winter witch one would you sugest? Leaning toward the power pole because its been around longer.

Just from what I have seen, I would go with the Talon. Seems to be a much simpler design and a little more user friendly. Both are probably good dependable units.

I have two Power Poles. They work great. Best thing about them is if you are fishing by yourself they hold the boat while you move the truck. Don't know anything about Talons. Sure they will be fine too. Good company. I'm sure they would stand behind their product.

From what my sales reps are telling me, the Talon seems to re-deploy itself if needed in larger wave action. It is also more compact and does not have the pinch points like the power poles. Plus the greatest factor is they are a grand cheeper.

Plus the greatest factor is they are a grand cheeper. I like that, now to come up with the money. competition will bring them together price wise.

I had no idea there was $1000 difference in the price. I thought they were actually pretty close in price.

$1000.00 may a bit of an exaggeration unless you know a source that gives a huge discount. I just got a PM from a guy on the classifieds page thats a good deal but not a grand, even if you add the remotes with the power pole that standered with the Talon its not a grand. Looks like I may go with the Talon save a little cash and will just need someone to install the bracket the rest I can handle.

I checked a couple of retailers and it looked like the prices were close...anyone buying might want to look around and do comparisons. I think they both will do the job at hand, just depends on what you want, like and can afford. My 6' PP does the job for me. Happy with it.

Stogie, Thanks thats a good comparison even though it is MK's web site it confirms what I have found so far. Looks like I'm buying a Tolon. From past experience I know MK service is top notch.

Great job Stogie.
I will be going with the Talon. Then again I'm a MK dealer so might be able to save some money.

I am happy with my Power Pole. Might look at the Talon on my next boat.

Installed my Talon yesterday, very easy after the shop installed the bracket for me. I could have done that also, I think, but I would have had to borrow a buddy's engine hoist. It was easier to pay the shop 1 hour labor to do it for me. I did not hook up the warning alarm to the ignition wire (yet) I'm a little concerned about splicing into it, don't want to cause myself any problems down the road. Didn't buy Minn Kotta's $70 quick disconnect either, spent $25 at Academy on a 3 wire trolling motor plug, I think it will work just fine. Going to make a trip to Monticello after the first of the year will let everyone know how it works.
