hey guys,

my truck has a rhino lining in it. seems to be pretty thick and tough. seems to me that a good strip of it down the centerline would make a good keel guard. anybody done this?

I'm sure it would work beautifully.
Both are polyurethane. Great idea !

I had the decks on my boat sprayed with the liner and asked about doing the Keel. The only way they can do it is to turn the boat upside down, I passed but it can be done. By the way I love the liner in place of carpet.

you may want to check with Line-X as well .. I know they've done complete boats, inside and out, as well as parts of hulls .. and it's TOUGH and will not fade

On the Aluminum Boat Repair board, there are several posts and questions about coating the bottoms of Aluminum boats with it and it is said to hold up really well to rocky shorelines and gravel. Sounds like it would be great for an old leaky boat,or a new one that you would want to protect, but the downside is weight and expense. Don't know about fiberglass, but it seems to stick to anything. Jimbo

Talked to a Line-x dealer, and he said he won't do a keel guard type coating on fiberglass. He said that to get it to adhere correctly to the fiberglass, may cause some permanent damage to the fiberglass gel coat it sticks to. It also can not be removed. He's going to wait and see what others are saying. Lastly, he said it wouldn't cost any less than a good stick-on product like Hamby or KeelGuard. So why change to something that's not proven.

I would like to get my front deck done, but a keel guard should be smooth, I think, otherwise you get front end drag (if your front end is in the water, many boats on plane wouldn't be affected)
