I've river fished all my life and fishing lakes is new to me.
I've spent considerable time on lake Waco lately feeling my way around. I've learned a lot from this forum but most of all Fishhauler here in Waco has been a tremendous help and Friday he caught some extra buffalo and gave me one to use for bait. Today I used that bait to land my personal lake best blue cat of 22lbs 11oz, 38 inches long. Thank you James for the buffalo it's being put to good use! This trip was a last minute decision, everybody was busy or had plans....so I went by myself. My dip net is good for 10-12lbs had a little trouble getting him on the boat....got to get a bigger net! I enjoyed catching him best fight I can remember in a long while.
I was happy to release him....he made my day.

Good story, great catch. Get you the biggest net you can find. Lotta big blues in the lakes around here. I'm up to a 36" hoop- biggest I've found.

I was anchored with 3 rods fishing in water about 9' deep using shad and cut buffalo. I caught nothing on shad but I did catch a 3 lb bass on buffalo! I tried drifting earlier but couldn't slow the boat down, even had 2- 36" socks off the bow..so I found a spot in the trees, parked it, turned on the cowboy game expecting to catch the usual channel cats and then he hit. I can't wait till the next one but I have some upgrading of gear on my to do list.
In comparison to most of the fish I've seen on here this one is not very big.....I hooked him, caught him and released him but now I'm 'hooked' and I don't think I'll get released from the big blue fishing bug!

I've caught much bigger Yellows on the river but this one was more fun by far. I had my channel rods with me and he hit the smallest one of course, small hook and light line 12lb mono. Made it more interesting but not recommended.

Way to go Willow kinda weired James said all 14 he caught yesterday were on buff too I caught 8 last Mon.6 were on buff
