Will be heading to Galveston for a few days and staying across from the 61st Street Pier. Would like to know if anyone has been doing any fishing there lately. If so, I would like to get some fishing reports on what might be biting this time of year and what kind of bait...Finger Mullet, cut mullet, live or dead shrimp...

The last two weeks I have only seen a handful of people there total. They have not had lights on at night.

i would call ahead and see if they are open. they said earlier this yr that when they reopened they would be open 24-7 . i know in corpus that the piers there are open 24-7 all yr long and they are cheaper. only drawback to that is the 4 hour drive.

I live in Freeport, Texas (Galveston Area) and am curious as if there is a legal way to catch finger mullet other than using a cast net. Cast nets, they tear very easy and can only be used in certain places. Maybe there is a trap, similar to a minnow trap or a device which can be used to catch finger mullet.
Thanks,
