2004 merc 115 4-stroke runs great, idles good but when I reduce throttle, I have to slow it down VERY slowly or the engine will die everytime. Not a big problem but it gets a little annoying when checking juglines with the constant stop-and-go. I do use fresh ethanol free fuel with marine sta-bil, and it has done this since I bought it 2 and 1/2 years ago.

Whats the idle rpm? The TPS (throttle position sensor) may need re-set. With motor running good other than that I would try increase the idle rpms slightly like 100-200 rpms to see if it makes any difference.

The IAC may have a problem,IAC is the idle air controll so when you let off the throttle it wont let the engine die, needs to be hooked up to the CDS and watch the duty cycle of the IAC to confirm readings from the IAC.
