Has anybody done a Cummins swap in anything, or has considered it.
I'd like to take something like an '87 3/4 ton 4X4 Chevy and put a Cummins in it. I love the looks of those older trucks, and a 6bt Cummins would make it that much better. I have heard of folks pulling thier Power Strokes out and dropping in a Cummins.

I would love to do it someday. I have an uncle that has a 3/4 ton dodge cummins 5 speed and when he gets tired of it is going to chop the frame and mound the body of of his 65 chevy... sounds like a sweet combo

Cool idea. I have seen this done in a Jeep.

A shop I used to work at had a hot shot driver that had an old Chevy dualie with a Cummins V8 in it. We loaded 20K LB mud pumps on his flat bed several times.

Check out Trucks TV show. I don't remember the year Ford and Dodge trucks they used but they are in the process of doing one.

Check out the Jan. 2011 issue of Diesel Power Magazine (available now). There is a five page article called "Swap A Cummins Into Anything". Has some good info on this topic.

A Cummins can realy be swaped into anything that you want with a little bit of elbow grease. Just remember to consider frame, transmission, rear axle, and definitely suspension to hold it up. You are looking at around a 1500 pounds engine and transmission combo. My swap will be a 12 valve into an 86 Camaro.

That ought to be interesting! Especially beefing up the front suspension. popcorn

Pretty much plan on finding a old 2500, taking the body off, and transplanting the Camaro body on.
