Red trebles aren't "old school" Red.

What size are y'all using? One size larger than the factory hooks. If it has a number four, switch to a number two in the KVD Elite short-shanks.

There was an interesting article a while back with Rick Clunn talking about hooks on cranks. He didn't like the triple grip because it wont stick a fish that is slapping the bait. In order for the triple grip to catch the fish has to be pulling down on the hook since the points are turned in. He recommended using a round bend hook since it has the largest gap between the point and the shank. The round bends will stick fish that are slapping at a bait and not taking it into their mouths.
Makes since to me, especially since he has a few more skins on his wall, and espcially with cranks.

I replace originals with one size larger KVD short shank triple grip also. Looks like triple grips if you want to keep the fish hooked best that eat the bait, or round bends if you're after the slappy fish.

I started using triple grips when I had to go to the emergency room to get it ripped out.
