Hey everyone,
I was planning on taking a little camping trip to Mckinney Falls January 1-3, I was just wondering if any of y'all have been/camped there and what your experience was. Is the fishing atleast decent? Any kind of info on the place is much appreciated.

If you were planning on fishing, McKinney Falls park definitely isn't the place to go. If I was going anywhere to camp close to Austin I would recommend Bastrop State Park, not McKinney Falls.

Onion Creek (which flows through McKinney Falls) is an excellent sunfish and small bass fishery. Its quite underutilized, given its location to Downtown. Never-the-less, hitting this spot with a light flyrod and a few poppers is a blast.
