So here's the deal. I'm already tired of being cooped up in the house. It's gonna be somewhat chilly tomorrow and a little breezy starting around 1 pm tomorrow but I've got to get out of the house and catch a bass. Gonna head to Choke on Wednesday morning and fish til about 2 pm. With the cool front that just blew through where would you fish. What depth you think they are in and what would you throw. Tomorrow looks like a decent day before another front comes through. I'm thinking about hitting pond dams and slow rolling a spinner bait, or throwing a Carolina rig. Just can't decide where to fish. Steep ledges 15-20ft or pond dam edges in 13 to 17 ft. What would you do.

I'd launch at Caliham and fish from the point by cabin 13 back to the ramp the whole time. CR 8" watermelon red lizard...

I would try to fish the edges of grass with a weightless senko. The grass should be still producing, but I don't think that the bass will be super active, I could be wrong. Try what you have confidence in and you should at least catch one or two bass. I would down size my lures too. If the fish are not active you can at least get them to bite a smaller lure.

I am going to try to go Thursday because the wind will not be blowing as bad as it will be on Wednesday. WeatherBug says that it will be blowing 17-19 mph, which really means at least 20 mph.

Have fun either way and hopefully you can catch a few bass. If you have any more questions feel free to ask away.

Mainlake and secondary points with rock and grass, fish 15-20 ft if its sunny, if it is cloudy or windy then try a little shallower. BTW, I noticed you are from Corpus Christi? I would go to Falcon, it has been awesome!

horseplaydvm - I would love to got to Falcon but my dang job gives me split days off. Only gonna be off Wednesday. Falcon for me is 2hrs and 50 min from my door to county ramp across from Falcon Lake Tackle, but it's just too far for a 1 day trip. Looking forward to some January and February trips to Falcon though. It seems like I'm the only bass fisherman that lives in Corpus from all the people I talk to.

I understand. Yeah, I figured you would be chasing those big specks this time of year down in Baffin. They are almost as fun as a big bass.

We are coming off a big front headed into another one. Eventhough the water has cooled, the bite should be on ahead of this next system. Good day for a big bite.

Nothing against Choke, it's a great lake. But you could leave at 4AM get on the water at Falcon at dawn -- jeez, you look like a young man -- go for Falcon.

Anglinglegend,

Bass Fisherman are fairly scares in C.C., mainly shrimp slingers. I lived there for years, but back in Houston now. There should still be a few bass guys on the west side of town, but not many. I think the folks that live on Lake C.C. don't even bass fish.

Back in the day there were some really good Falcon sticks out of C.C, but lake levels dropped and things changed. I can't remember the guys name, but a guy from C.C. caught a 80 pound stringer on Falcon back in the day when we had 10 fish stringers.

My trolling motor quit on falcon a while back and I had to drive to Corpus (Flour Bluff area) to get trolling motor parts and a guy pulled up with a Triton behind his truck to get trolling motor parts too and traffic stopped on freeway.......some of those people had never seen a bass boat, much less two setting a qtr mile from Oso bay or whatever that ankle deep bay is.

I've struggled a little on Falcon since it came up. I think my next trip south I may fish Choke, I havent fished it in a couple of years. choke is a big lake too......lots of places to fish.

Thanks, Billy

Believe me. I tried flying the whole Falcon by dawn trip past the wife and since I'm flyin solo on the adventure and Christmas money is tight; the trip to Choke just makes more since. Billy; I hear ya. When I' m headed back from the lake around 3 or 4 pm and I hit what little 5 O'clock traffic we have. You should see the looks I get. They've never seen a boat that isn't solid white with a center console in it. It's a riot. Jaret; that's kinda what I'm hopin for is a big fish or 2. I'd take 2. I just wanna make sure all the rods and reels are working like they should. I bought a wind sock to play with and hopefully that should make it easier to fish tomorrow. I'll post on here how it went.

Dang, yall are bashing on the saltwater guys! I live in Port A, well, my last final is tomorrow, then Ill be back in Port a. I don't know why you would want to drive to Choke to possibly catch a fish. With the tides falling out to absolutely nothing for the first time this year, the fishing should be absolutely stupid with reds, trout, and flounder lined up in the guts along the flats. Just my .02. Ill be at choke prefishing for the FLW here in a few weeks. Good luck
