They moved the barge a few years ago, it was over the channel but it straddles a point now we have brushed it out and the fishing is turning on, the first two years after they moved it the crappie fishing sucked, the new owner is not as easing going as the old one was she is a bit on the grumpy side.

We moved the crappie barge in 2005. The move was necessary to make room for construction of the boat slips as required by the contract with the city. We spent weeks agonizing over the location. The marina subcontractor wanted us to put the barge in the shallow bay on the east of the present location. He was sure the wind would destroy the barge on the point.

The poor crappie fishing is due to the poor spawn in 2006 -2008. The city allowed the lake to get 10 feet low due to poor management. The lake then came up the next year right in the middle of the spawn, drowning the crappie nests. We are still feeling the effects of the poor water management.

The city utilities director made some really crazy decisions. He later went on a shooting binge and killed his wife and children.

Cut the new people some slack. Managing the marina is tough and they need a little time. They have spent a lot of money to improve the marina. Not many small lakes have such a great facility.

A lot of you felt I was grumpy too. It goes with the territory. The fishing will improve as the fish population gets over the problems of the past few years.

The yellow bass are compliments of Lake Benbrook. They were pumped in with the water.

Cynthia and steve made all the improvements on that place not the new owner I've met three and two of the three are real sweethearts the other just seems like she has had a bad day when I've talked to her, but I pay my fee and fish, the fish will turn on they seem to run late every other year, the slips have produced every year and they are catching a lot of fish right now, it won't be long before the barge starts holding fish and if you want to fish the slips it's 150.00 per month.

Good Personalities go a long way with fishermen, and hopefully she will wake up on the good side of the bed. I know my bubbily personality is 0 for 2 in dealing with her. The other ladies are great, but it was quite condensending to be treated like a 3rd grader when she made me stick my arm out to have her put the wrist band on me, instead of letting me do it myself.

Cythinia and Steve did a lot of good things for this place. I have been fishing there all my life, and it has taken a turn for the better. I just hope the new owners realize it and continue improving things.

... Merry Christmas

The fishing will pick up. Lots of lakes are running late this year.

Not a first hand report, but I have been told that limits are being caught.
