I am going to the lake and staying at the Seven Coves area on Saturday for 5 or 6 days. I am getting my jugs ready. Preparing beef hearts, beef livers, chicken livers, Redneck's soap, and of course, shrimp. I have plenty of range cubes and my shad net.
Does anyone know where the kitty's are on Conroe this month? How deep of water should I drop my jugs in? What part of the lake should I concentrate on for catfish and shad?
Any help will be appreciated. I really would love to boat a few big blues.
Thanks, Don

Don, go straight across the lake from Seven Coves toward the island before the powerlines. Watch out for the sand bar on the south side of the island. 26 to 16 feet deep was productive last Saturday night. Watch the weather close this weekend.
Right along the break water at the light house is also good if you don't want to cross the lake. Just watch the boat traffic there.
I found shad along the concrete over at Walden.

Dave, Just got back...nice place to stay. Caught all the 1-3 pounders I wanted north of the bridge, 1st cove on the west, up in the timber. Did best with range cubes and shrimp.

Ran 12 jugs all day and night for three days. Caught one gar, one channel, and one 18 pound blue on beef heart. I used heart, beef kidney, beef liver, chicken liver, and redneck catfish soap. I need to find the right spots for the jugs.
A wonderful vacation on a beautiful lake.

TA, try just north of the 1097 bridge where the old san jacinto river forks. The water in the channel is around 40 feet and the old channel banks are around 22 ft. I try and place my jugs on the incline. Also, there are several old roadbeds in the same area. The map they sell with lake conroe on one side and lake houston on the other show these old roadbeds. The water is around 22 ft on the road beds. Now, I was told that in the past week the cats have moved into the shallow water. The mouth of Caney creek has deep and shallow water both with lots of humps. I generally use beef hearts doctored with anise oil, red food coloring, and lard. Since the shad are really schooling now, you might want to catch some of them also. Post before you go again and maybe we could meet each other. I fish Conroe for around 5 days each month.

Conroe is a great catfish lake. I will go up to fish in a couple of weeks since I am kinda tied up now. I fish out of Lochness marina on Calvary Road. Will post before I head out again.
