Anyone have any experience with pole saws? I need to cut some limbs 15 to 20 feet overhead. Is gas or electric the way to go? I do not want anything that is rechargeable. Thanks ahead of time for the help.

Go rent one from Home Depot for about $50 for a day (it may be two days, but I think it's one)...We did that and it was AWESOME!!! I may end up buying one because we have so many trees down here at the lake, but it was a lot cheaper for the $50 than the $500 for the good gas ones...

if you only have a small amount of trimming stick with renting a gas power saw. if you dont use it but once a year its just gonna cause you problems. at least in my experience. if your gonna buy dont get an electric just more stuff to trip and get hung up on.

A few limbs - get help from someone who might be able to climb a ladder or tree.
If you have to do it yourself, rent one.

Lol I saw the post and thought it was about the manual pole saws. Sometimes I forget they make gas powered because i've only used the manual saw and rope-powered trimmer. If it was me I would probably get a gas powered one due to the added convenience. I raise rodeo bred bucking stock so fence work has became a way of life, one of these would be sweet. It would help with the yard maintenance too...Just weigh the pros and cons, maintenance can't be too tough to keep up, even if it is only used a couple times a year...

you don't need an expensive gas/electric for occasional use.

I have one that's electric. I can't remember who makes it, but it works great. You can take the pole off and use it as a regualr chainsaw, and the pole extends out. Sorry I can't remember any specifics about it right now.
