I'm putting together a Rod & Reel combo for my son for a Christmas present and I'd like some opinions from you. I have bought a Berkley Cherrywood Graphite 7 ft rod, now what would be a good reel to go with that rod.
I know most of you would want a baitcast or spincast for yourself but my son doesn't get to fish but about 4 times a year and he likes a spincast. I am willing to spend between 50 and 75 dollars for his reel. Tell me which one?
Thanks in advance.

You might look at the Diawa Exceler. I have a couple and really like them. They are are about $60.

I have all Shimano baitcasters. However, I do like the Diawa spinning reels.

A good reel for the price is a Quantum Optix. I have a few of them, including one on a 7' cherrywood as well. Only $18 at Academy. But if you are willing to spend the extra money, then you can't go wrong with the Shimanos.

The Daiwa Exceler is the best reel for the money out there.

The Regal is a great reel for the money too.

Bass fishing is like a 30,000 acre golf course with no flags and five holes you can't see- Tim
