Yeah one day last week i loaded up the ak47, the sks and the m4 and went down to lakeside but the only thing i caught was dead leaves! Barometric pressure was up over 30.50 that day though... probably had alot to do with it.

Caught this decent one last March at Bethany on a rattle trap while bass fishing. Surprised he was still around in March and even more surprised he hit that bait.

The 7 year olds were just a little two rambuctious for fishing. No big deal really. They just put there rods down and played. One of those 7 year olds helped me clean up on crappie couple of weeks ago but today he just wasn't about it.
I wanted to spend some more time w/ the three year old and get her a fish as it would be her first but I spent all my time fixing tangles for the 11 and 9 year old.
Just one of those days I guess. . .
Most of the time they are all great fishing partners.

spincast for kids.

spinning reels need to be 'tended'

load up a spinning reel with new line and hand it to a kid.... is looking for trouble.

trilene xl line will cut down on problems

Yeah, except they've been patiently trained on them for a number of years. Like I said they spend hours w/ those spinning reels in there hands all summer long on kayaks w/ me and never have an issue.
I dunno what their problem was, unless it was just the cold weather had their brains disengaged.
My 9 year old, who is the real fishing nut of the bunch, is working w/ a casting plug on a baitcaster already hoping that I'll get her one before the spring bass spawn.

swimming pool is how i show them what their lure does. it is great for teaching them how to move their pole or not to move their pole while cranking.

Yup, I taught mine the fine art of slabbing, walking the dog, and several other techniques in the swimming pool. She is practicing flipping and pitching with a baitcaster right now by trying to hit a trash can from twenty feet away.

been hittin the guad tailrace lately and today hit up the san gabriel. all places easy limit in less than an hour on super dupers getting them to take a fly has been a different story but ill get one soon enough. gold and silver supers both produce but gold is best slow rolled with the current. no monsters very few over 12 but good fun for my stepson(he's 7). fishing with kids can be tough but ive learned to let him fish when he wants to and play when he wants to. he works a spinning reel now pretty good but +1 on gettin them spincasters to start them out with and you can kiss most of those tangles goodbye.

I don't always catch fish, but when I do, I prefer Dos Hybrids

I just got back from Allen. Took my two grankids out and fished from 3:30 - 6:30. I got three bites that were really good. I wanted to hand the rod off to my grandkids so tehy could bring them home. Lost all three. No bites on either of their poles at all. We will try again this weekend. They did stock 1700 right? They had fun and are itching to get back out there. We did see four or five trout that looked in the 12 inch range. that got them excited.
