Where Mesquite City Lake located? My search seems to show a lake surrounded by homes. Thanks. Here's an address to get you there: 500 lakeside dr., Mesquite, tx.

Are the numbers for the game wardens for all of Dallas county? I saw a guy catch his limit of trout yesterday within 30 minutes, but he kept right on fishing after that. In fact, he kept right on for about 6 hours.

as long as he didn't keep anymore he can fish as long as he wants. I doubt the guy was just fishing all that time for the hell of it. Most of the anglers that fish at city lake are fishing for a meal and unfortunately are not likely just fishing for the "sport of it". I myself practice catch and release unless I catch a mess of cat fish, or i'll offer them to another fellow.

Just select your county and you will be set.http://www.tpwd.state.tx.us/warden/find_warden/county.phtml

FYI - if you look on the back of your fishing license, there is a toll free number. Doesn't matter what county you are in, just call the number and tell them what you are reporting and where you are located.

I was at Mesquite City Lake this past Saturday 12/4 and saw a guy throwing a cast net. I wasn't sure if it was legal or not if he was using it to catch bait fish. I never saw him catch anything. I was looking at the TPWD website and can't find anything that says it's illegal to throw a cast net in a city pond for baitfish. I'd like to have that info for backup in case I decide to tell him something next time I see him. I appreciate any help you could give me.

In case you dont know this is illegal in the city lakes. Maybe you can point to the specific TPWD regulation that states that it's illegal to catch baitfish in city lakes?? I'm not aware of any reg like that and there is no exception for the use of castnets for bait listed in the Freshwater Harvest Regulations. What am I missing?

Mesquite city lake is listed as a community lake on the TPWD website. The outdoor annual states that the only leagal method to catch fish are by pole and line only, with a limit of two poles per person.
Oops!! What his link says.

Under the section where it says gear restrictions, It is as plain as day. What did you think I was citing an imaginary law? http://www.tpwd.state.tx.us/fishboat/fish/management/stocking/urban/regulations.phtml

No need to get your panties all in a wad dude - just trying to understand, it's just a clarity thing - no one is dis'n you OK? I can see you're new here, so I guess you'll learn that we're actually a pretty friendly bunch and that when someone asks a question it's because they want to understand, and not some sort of personal affront. Never saw this page under the fishing regs main page. Thanks for the clarification and the information.
