Ok I have been a big Abu Garcia fan for a while, every reel I have purchased is made by them. I am about to purchase my second baitcaster. I currently use a Garcia BlackMax and really like it alot but want to upgrade. I am looking at the Abu Garcia Orra SX, but I have only been using baitcasters for about a month, so just wanted to see if there is something alot better for the money,am I missing out on other great brands or is that a great reel? Have heard good things about BPS Brand. The budget is around $100 cant really go beyond that.

The Orra sx is a good reel, But If I was you I would get the revo sx instead. I think there about 150.00 right now at bass pro shops. Its an amzing reel!

if brand used doesn't bother you, look out on e-bay...a lot of guy's use reels for a few seasons then want to get the latest and greatest so they will sell them on-line...just a thought as you may be able to stretch your dollar a little further and get a better quality reel...

I prefer the Revo S over the Orra at about the same $100 to $129 price point. I also like the Diawa Tierra at that price.

Shimano Citica is a great reel and is right around that price. I would also give the Bass Pro shops Pro Qualifier a look. About 90 bucks and is a pretty good/tough reel.

I would recommend the BPS Johnny Morris signature. They have it on sale for just under $100. I fish with 3 Revo STX's and have 6 of the Johnny Morris reels. They are a very good reel for the money. Just my .02.

I like anything Shimano. You can get the Coriolis for around $60. I bought one a while back for a striper reel (I don't use my high dollar reels for these brutes).... It is one of my smoothest reels and handles 15lb stripers with ease.
If you must spend $100... go with the Citica.
And I know who "Jeff" is.
