So yesterday I went out to texas city dike and had no luck as always. I was using plastics, Dead shrimp, Mullet, and shad. Can anyone tell me a good spot and a good bait to use out there. I saw people catching fish so i knew they were there. just some info of a good spot and bait would help. About 30 people tell me they have had great luck on the dike but don't say where they were

I have always been on the very end or as close to it as you can possibly get on the right side if you are driving OUT. I use cut whiting and or Shrimp .. Depends ... Just to catch fish use shrimp under a popping cork ... fish it about 3 feet down ... Should definately have some action ... if they aren't hitting that ... Throw it with a Pyramid or Spider atleast 3 oz weight ... and wait for a minte ... MGL ...

I went for the first time yesterday. I hate that place. No rhyme or reason to stop at any certain location along the dike really besides a couple structures here and there. The rocks seem to go away from the dike for 25 yards. If I wasn't using 50lb braid I would have had to cut my line 20 times.

Wade out out onto Mosquito Island which is on ur left a couple hundred yards out on the dike. Popping corks or free lineing LIVE BAIT catches the fish. If you are good with artificials, the Jigs mentioned above are good as well. SheDogs topwater baits work great early and late. Right now it's flounder time dragging mullet and shrimp on the bottom.

Planning a trip for march and I was curious as to the ramps available and open now that there is access again. Are any Bait shops reopen on the dike or just Boyds?

TC Dike is like any other place different ways to fish different times to fish . I have had good and bad days . You might stop and ask people how , what , and when to fish on the dike .

There are no bait shops on the dike anymore. Boyd's is still there at the entrance to the dike and 1 or 2 others. Ramps are open.

Gone. Too bad though. Hook N Line maps sholarge hole at the end of that old pier. I guess I could kayak out to it but I don't want to get slammed into the rocks either. Does the water ever calm down around TCD or is it always crashing into the rocks? This nonsense about a popping cork makes me laugh. I had to recast every 30 seconds or so because it was coming back to the rocks so fast.
