Don't for get the rocks in the head. The ole gasper goo will have two nice polished stones on each side of its head above the eyes.

The meat is pretty good eating. Not as good as cats or crappie but not far behind.

I cut the stones out last night on a drum that I used for cutbait. I can't decide if I should start a collection and make a little good luck charm to wear when I go fishing or if it would be bad luck....you know using peices of fish i killed....why would that be good Luck??

Stones in the Gasper Goo's head.

Where can I located these stones??? Do I have to split the head open to get to them, etc?

Let me know, I wanna give this a try.

I don't trust a catfisherman who doesn't have shad scales on his hands or his reels...period.

seigrist - Go behind the eye and towards the top of the head about 1/2 to 1" in each direction. Use the point of your knife to cut out a section of skin. continue to peel the skin away until you find the stones. They will be next to the bones of the head in a small socket. Pearls of freshwater from the ole Gasper Goo. laugh

Forgot to mention that they are good eating. Right behind crappie and cats. Roll the filets in Zatarains and deep fry. Bring on the cole slaw and brown beans and the neighbors will be knocking at the door.

Try frying some and invite fellow fisherman and let them figure out what type of fish they are.

I'm glad them Drum taste better in Texas. They dont taste that good in Louisiana unless you go down south where they cookem in a "courtboullion."Tried fryin some once and it dont taste nothin like catfish, bream, or crappie. Maybe "Crappy". LOL!!!

Must be the swamp water they have to swim in that makes them taste bad. The fresh water in Texas cleans em up a tad to make em edible.
