What are ya'lls opinion on fishing with Goldfish vs Perch?I catch perch for my trotlines and have good luck on AH. I hear people catching cats on Goldfish also.

If you are using them at alan henry, I have found through serious research, that perch is the one to use. Fish prefer the dominant bait fish that is in that body of water. I have tried goldfish, only to catch mabey 7-8 Yellow Cats over 20 lbs. With perch i have always had a higher amount. If you could learn to throw a cast net, you could use shad, which is serious blue and channel cat bait.

Dicky - stick with perch, goldfish cost money and are nothing out of the ordinary. I've used them when I first started fishing for flatheads and never caught one with them. I will use bluegill, longear, pumpkinseed, warmouth sunfish for trotlines because they are hardy and stay alive longer. I would not recommend using redear sunfish because they do not take being hooked very long and die easy. Also, for flatheads, if you have a place or can catch 5-8 inch mudcats (bullheads), you really can't go wrong using them. The only thing is blues and channels will not bite them as opposed to sunfish.
