A few pics from my 2+ week hunting vacation. I hunted pheasant on Ks., Ok. and Tx. Deer and coyotes in Ok. and crane, yotes and cats back in Tx. Lots of road miles.

why cranes, i have never heard of anyone hunting cranes. Do they tast good

I was wondering the same thing about cranes.... didn't know anybody hunts em. Either way it looked like a lot of fun!

Those big birds make the best jerky you will ever eat in your life. My partner and I have a pretty good setup for making it. Commercial grade dehydrator and meat slicer. Crane hunting is a big sport out in West Texas.

The Sandhill cranes are nick named "the rib eye of the sky", that said I tried cooking one once and it was like chewing on a tire. Maybe I need to learn how to prepare them better.

Cut the breast in 1/4" thick strips. Soak in buttermilk then roll in flour and chicken fry. The secret is don't cut the steak too thick,,,,Tasty !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
