Are you incapable of finding your own fish? Do you think it's just fine to run up on a bent rod?

Run in front of a drift?
Well, let's see what they're using, might be helpful.
If you see a boat in the back of a lake, you figure your shallow sport HAS to be able to get back there also? Didn't the sales guy promise that?

It was rampant this past weekend.
I witnessed a knucklehead run his raised deck, sticker covered, four meathead on board 50K shallow sport right through the middle of a herd of at least a couple hundred reds, and all they wanted to do was look at what we were using. Started to shut it down, felt the prop hit bottom, and blast out. Thank goodness I didn't have a flare gun on board.

Forty minutes later, thank goodness the fish didn't completely vacate, ANOTHER pro, decides we're just having too much fun and tries to (at least) run behind us, this time he stuck that schooner, and spent the next twenty minutes digging a trench getting out. Needless to say that took care of that. Do I need to get a flashing sign that tells these knuckleheads it's 10" deep and don't try it? Or would that matter?

Please let's all make an attempt to show just a little more respect for each other, someone is going to get hurt over something like this.

I had a guy hollering at me the other day at the san luis pass bridge. I was sitting anchored in my kayak fishing away and this dude starts hollering at me over and over and waving me over. So i figure i should go see whats going on. So i start pulling in my lines and anchor, meanwhile this guy is still hollering and iv motioned at him plenty and yelled hold on a few times. I pull anchor, store it away, get my bait bucket out of the water, mind you in a kayak pulling stuff in and putting stuff away takes awhile longer, this guy is still yelling. I start paddling his way and hes still yelling at me. I get there, we were only 100yards away from each other by the way, and he tells me his battery died... Now what in the blazes can a kayak do for a boat thats stranded? I ask him if he needs a cell phone he says no his works fine. He then asks if im with anyone in a boat... I look around there are no boats to be seen, and why would i be in a cramped kayak if i could be in a boat? So i told em sorry and good luck and paddled in to shore since i hadnt caught nothing all day, i may have muttered a few bad things under my breath about that guy

If it ain't broke, fix it till it is.

Guides vs. weekend wariors, Meat haulers vs. purists, Drifters vs. bait soakers. No doubt it takes all kinds. I'm no potlicker. However, try as I may to conduct myself with the utmost respect and consideration for my fellow anglers, the lack of common courtesy shown by a few is increasingly vexing.
If you are a bait soaker, do'nt pull up in front of my drift, set up shop, and then proceed to wave me off. I've been accused of not being the brightest bulb in the bar. I may not understand that you and your gang are there to catch fish, and I should clearly do what ever it is I'm doing elsewhere. I often times may drift right past you, oblivious to your animated gestures and obseneties, only to realize I should leave... just about the time I drift across your honey hole. I'VE SEEN ME DO IT!

I usually park on the beach at san luis pass and launch from the beach. I launch early usually but it seems every time I head in there a either a bunch of surf rods or waders fishing in front of my truck. Now how can you yell at a guy who is trying to paddle into the beach right by his truck even though it is in between your lines, without touching them mind you, because my damn truck was there first and if you setup in front of my truck im gonna dodge your lines to save an extra 50yard drag of my yak.

It's even worse on the piers. I witness this a lot when fishing from them. People will come right next to you, throw their line across yours, and then get pissed if their line gets crossed or tangled with yours. I've almost come to blows w/ some because of their idiotic ways of fishing. The bad thing is that a lot of these people have their kids w/ them. What a way to teach the kids about fishing. It also happens alot in the surf and in the bays wading. Boats will even potlick you if you're on fish. And don't get me started w/ the bird chasers in their boats. Potlickers need an A ** whoopin' IMO. I try to avoid the crowds and find my own spots. If you are needing a tip about what I'm using to catch fish, or how I'm using it and fishing by me, be courteous and ask before you act.

3 of my worst (most pissed) experiences wading.
Number 1. I drive for 20 minutes over the sand roads on the bay side of Mustang Island, then slowly wade for another half hour to get to a spot I know holds fish. Then a guy that I had passed on the road in follows me and watches where I go. He waits with binoculars while I catch fish and then baits his kite line. Not 30 minutes later his kite line reaches the edge of the hole I am working. Even asked me if I had any bait he could use when I left.
Number 2. Same type of drive in and wade. Another guy sees us fishing and follows us back. Parks next to us and proceeds to wade past us (so fast he was spooking everything within 50 yards)and then zig zags across the area we are wading towards.
Number 3. Walk over a quarter mile through knee deep mud and then another 300 yards through 3 neck deep guts to get to one of my favorite spots on the ICW. After 20 minutes, some idiots (sorry) in a ski boat proceed to water ski up and down the waterway repeatedly in front of us while we attempt to fish.
Maybe there is a good reason after all why TX does not have open carry. It is to keep me out of your prison!

I make it through the day by dreaming of my next trip to Port A.

ugh jetties and piers are terrible and the surf can be just as bad. its gotten so bad when you cast a line and tangle with mine im gonna cut it i dont give a $#@% anymore(especially when you tangle with a 15lb bait i just got done yakking out!!!). alot of idiots think just cause you're catching fish that is the only spot that holds and if they cast there they will catch fish. how about politely asking me what i am using or how im presenting it? im all for helping a fellow fisher out but show some respect! and to any bird buzzers out while im wading....nxt time someone buzzes 30ft in front of me in port mansfield is getting a 8oz spider weight fired at them(you've been warned) that is all lol.

Ouch. An 8oz is bad enough. But a spider weight... Just so it digs in better?

Hope I don't jinx myself but, I've fished the last three days in East Matagorda Bay and have to say it's been a pleasure. A lot of boats drifting, anchored, or running and a lot of waders on all shorelines and reefs but EVERYONE has been courteous. I know it's hard to give plenty of room but it seems everyone has been trying to do just that. So, it can be done. Enjoy it ya'll. It probably doesn't get any better.

Clown who spooled the guys reel might want to check his OB. Line wrapped around the prop can and will cause major problems. Too bad, so sad.

Totally agree with you. Sometimes fellow fishermans came and ask about my rig and bait. After answering questions... only to find out their moving their gear right next to mine. Even more bull when they cant do a straight cast but a side way swing which end up crossing both of my sinker line. Its fine moving their stuff near mine but bull when dragging in my sinker line and say, "Hey your line." and shaking their head like its my fault.

Another one was during the smack season. My dad and I do really good during smack and when this one Mexican guy (not being racist) with his wife, kid, and a buddy I guess... moved their gear next to our because they saw us from far away at their old location. I greet them but they end up talking to each other in Spanish and laugh. I throw my floater far and for a fact they wont be able to throw far so I put my rod down to work on another rod. Few min later I came back to my rod and reel it in since theres probably no more bait under the floater. Just to find out that my line has been cut....

2 years ago my dad lost his 10' penn powerstick due to the driver showing off his boat to us (inshore fisherman) and came to closed. Spin the line... rod went flying.

ouch, gotta hope your drag is low and you have enough line to give you time to cut it, or hope you have light test
