Just bought a Eagle Cuda 300 Fishfinder for my kayak. Installed it per installation video I found on YouTube. I think I did everything right. It has power and the simulator comes on but when I took it out for a test, it didn't pick anything up or the right depth. Right all my settings are set to default. What am I doing wrong? Do I need to adjust the settings? If so, what settings do I adjust?

A bubble issue, the bottom of the bubble is acting like the bottom under you, a depth of zero. Most units wont display under a couple feet, so it will show a temp and at best, a line of pixels at the tippy top of screen. Ducer is installed incorrectly.

Simulator should only come on if the ducer isnt plugged in, and goop isn't similar to nails...not even close.

I have no experience with finders, but what FSO says seems to be believable. They are different, goop is designed just for this kind of stuff for a reason, liquid nail is more for household stuff and therefore they could care less if their product has bubbles in it. I would recommend removing the ducer and trying the goop.

I doubt it is the adhesive. I know of people using epoxy,Goop, silicone, even JB weld and they all work. First thing I would do is mount the transducer on a stick of sorts and hang it overboard to see if it even works. After you are assured it is working, then go for the inside the hull mount. Personally, I never glue them down but instead, glue down a piece of foam with a hole for the ducer, let dry, slop in some KY and push the ducer down to the hull. Works great and is removable. See these posts... http://austinkayakfishing.com/forum/view...sc&start=15BTW-make sure you are mounting on a flat surface and not the V section inside the hull

I made a small foam well about the size of my transducer. The well is glued to the hull. The transducer just sits inside the foam well. When I get to the site, I just add a little water and it's good.
I tried using vaseline at first but it was a mess.
You just need a little water to fill the space between the transducer face and the hull. About three ounces in my well.

Mine works in the "v". Is permanent, and requires no Water/Ky/Foam. You can pickup the weight of my entire kayaks, by lifting at the transducers. They work AND stay put There are other ways of doing it, If your near Dallas Id be glad to hook you up.
