Did y'all see this?

http://www.bassparade.com/short-challenges-all-elites-no-info

Kevin Short is calling out pros on the whole info sharing thing. I like his approach. I know a lot of guys get info from guides and other sources, and it's legal. But I'd love to see who can just show up and catch 'em, as opposed to wondering who found what based on who they talked to.

How do y'all feel about the whole information mining stuff? Is it just part of the game or should they kill it altogether? Seems like it makes it awfully tough on rookies who don't have the connections that the vets do.

It's not against the rules. Sounds like a lot of whining. That article gave me a headache.

He has a point at least for "Me" that I too have always sucked at tournaments where I have gotten information. It seems to make you force something instead of practicing right and fishing your strengths. I'm looking forward to a year of "no information" for "Me".

I have no clue what if any info Duckett has ever asked for. I just know I respect the guy for being a Classic champion and a great fisherman. He does not need to apologize for any of it either. I have no issue with them getting info withing legal means at all. To some its smart and to others it never pans out. I cannot say what I would do till I was faced with that decision and had that much of myself invested in the game. I will say this though at the end of the day I have more respect for guys do it on their own though. I know that when Brian Clark fished the Elites for two years he did it on his own on new lakes and that probably had something to do with not getting to that upper echelon in the Elites but at the end of the day he was glad he did it his way.
I just respect that more and I have friends now on both circuits. Some get help, some don't but to me I'd rather have the pride of winning on my own. Once the money is gone and your days are fading it would just mean more to me. Thats not saying I feel anything negative to the guys that get help though. Its an individual decision and frankly not my place to pass judgement on any of them. We are not talking about a $100 entry fee one day deal here. This is their livelihoods. I also think in context we all get info from buddies and people we know anyway. I have asked about a lake or a pattern but I would not expect anyone to hand over coordinates either. I would do the same for friends. I could not see paying for info and maybe that is what has people thinking ngative on this deal.
BTW- love or hate Short I still think you have to respect the guy. He pulls no punches and says what he feels. We need people like him in this world

nice article, as I remember reading Boyd's blog and could not believe he revealed how much information he receives then begs for more. Makes me think he is buying his way into victory with his previous business success.

I like what he mentioned as far as the teams, as I've heard straight from several pro's that once they agreed to take a high level team position they were required to share all of their prefishing information with their other team mates.

no punt intended to any of the pros. it helps to have some spots and hints thrown your way, but even at that, you still gotta be able to catch them. ive had help from guys before and I knew the fish were there but I couldnt get any results. each man to his on I guess. Secrets or no secrets, a man still has to be able to find them and catch them. there are a few of the big boys out there that I dont care too much for. having said that Id still trade shoes with them anytime! call me jealous I guess.

I grew up in Central Arkansas and know quite a few guys that have fished against him when he was coming up and from talking to them this kind of whining is nothing new with him.

Who can get the best information before the off limits period and who spends the most time on the water makes you a better angler. Boyd just wants to do the best he can in every event. I don't see a problem with it.
