I have ben buying BPS Rick Clunn baitcasting reels for over 8 years now. They are around $100. But their gears seem to start grinding on the cast after a year of solid fishing and I am tired of sending them back to get repaired.

Any suggestions on a baitcasting reel between $100 - $150 that has little problems. And are the much more expensive reels that much better and last much longer?

thanks

Shimano CiticaE is in that price range. I would recommend it.

You can get a Revo SX in that price range. Still new 2009 models to buy.

If you can squeeze up to the 170 to 190 range there are a lot of good options in Quantum, Shamano, Garcia, Ochuna.

Tackle Warehouse has the Daiwa Viento on clearance right now and with the 20% off you are paying about 89 bucks for a 200+ dollar reel. It has a twitching bar but you don't have to use it. The higher end Daiwa reels are excellent quality, and you can't beat this price. Click on the Sale link first and it will auto correct the total to 20% off.
