Went out to the jetty around 7:00am and once again no one was out there beside a group of 2 were walking ahead of me.

Didnt have any mullet or any other bait from casting so we brought some live shrimp. Nothing was biting on live shrimp or dead. We were hoping to reel in any kind of fish so we can make bait out of it but failed.

Around 10am I went back out to try and cast some bait... 30 min later return with nothing... Maybe 1pm my dad went out and try his luck. Came back about 45 min later with only one large mullet to use as bait.

Since the time we arrive which is around 7am till maybe 2pm... Nothing was biting. Took out our main sinker gear and cut the mullet in 3 way for 3 sinker rod.

20 second after I throw mine in. Got a hook on and reel in a 36inch red. 10 mins later I ran to my 2nd rod and hook in a nice 40inch red.

My dad and I both left and brought the reds with us and was planning to do some flounder fishing. End up going home lol

Anyone know where we can fish for flounder around surfside?

Because my dad was getting ready to clean/cut them and already have the tag off.

Do you put a tag on the tail before taking pictures and then throw it down the water with a line so it can be fresh or you put it in when your about to go home and drag the fish up?

Your welcome to stand at the parking lot every sunday to check my tags.

yea but you can only get one more tag after you turn in... its only two per year right?

Anyways nice catch, thanks for the reports you really been tearing up the reds over there. Have you caught very many slot reds? I hope to hit surfside sometime soon

yeah, i head out of the galveston / far bay side where the beach turns back towards galveston, then paddle straight for bird island and stop in a cut and fish off the sand bar.
