When you drift in & out of the tackle stores during
the next few weeks - pick up some of your favorite
sand bass lures/grubs for the Spring 2011 spawning
run. I've suggested to the Dept. managers to order
ahead, get a 12-14ft flat bottom boat, and have it
in a fishing dept isle filled to the brim by Jan 15th.

(I know, I think differently than Dept Mgrs.
Those EMPTY display hooks by Feb 20th must generate
lots of income from Feb 20 to Mar 31).

Sandies are aleady headed up the creaks and rivers in some places. Had a couple of good reports of catches in the lower Angelina before Thanksgiving. Not too unusual when we have a warm early November.

The cold fronts will shut them down for a few days, but they are still there,,,,waiting.

If we are talking whites in the creek and river runs, make it 1/6th oz rooster tails/knockoffs and we can talk serious turkey. I use roosters almost exclusively during the pre spawn and spawn runs in the creeks and keep my entire neighborhood stocked up on white bass fillets!

for the Neches, I found the best lure was a roadrunner, 1/16 to 1/8, chartruse with fire head.

LL is right You will not be able to find one in Tyler
once the run is on.

Question.

In the reservoir that I fish, there is a river that runs into it and a creek.

But they very rarely run. Will the fish still head up the channels?
