Does anyone know if the lake stays open all year around in winter months also? Ive had good luck on this lake in the spring but never tried it in the winter. Would like to plan a trip to go camping out there sometime soon. Thanks

My wife and I camped out there a couple weeks ago. We dont have a boat so we fished from either of the 2fishing piers they have out there. We caught 8 or so bass each day we were there with the biggest being a 7lber. Not to bad for pier fishing. Its a nice place to camp as well.

I was just looking @ google maps... it looks like there are a few piers out there. Glad to know they are productive. What piers in particular were you at? What seemed to work for yall?

It's a little hard to tell from the satellite view, but are parts of this lake (around the piers) bank-fishable?

From what i could tell there are a few palces you can bank fish, but around the piers isnt one of them. There are a few gators in there as well so i wouldnt get to close to the water unless the bank is somewhat cleared. The pier that is on the south end of the lake has alot of pads and i fished it in the evenings with a swimbait and rattletrap. The fish were schooling in front of the pier so they were pretty easy to catch. In the morning i fished the other pier on the north side of the park with a yellow magic topwater and zara spook jr. I caught the 7lb on the yellow magic in the morning. They also rent canoes but only do so friday, saturday, and sundays i beleive since it is now off season.

I Fish this lake everyone once in a while. There are a lot of places to bank fish, especially if there aren't alot of campers.

There are two piers on the outer two fingers that are usually crowded. The center finger has a long bank area to fish. The campground also rents boats so you could consider that as well.

I have a fishing report from this month on www.Lakehousechronicles.com look under 2010 reports.

Good Luck.

as of late, how's the park doing... may have a chance to fish it this week and any tips would be helpful for this time of the year.
